MicroPDF417 Variant

An EAN/UCC-specific variant of a MicroPDF417 symbol is used as the 2D component of a CC-A Composite symbol. For more information, see Section 8 of the International Symbology Specification - EAN/UCC Composite Symbology™ (ITS/99-002), published by AIM International (external link; requires Internet access.) According to this specification, restrictions are placed on which version of CC-A may appear above an RSS family component:

1. RSS-14 Stacked or RSS-14 Stacked Omnidirectional linear components may only be linked to a two-column CC-A components.
2. RSS Limited linear components may only be linked to a three-column CC-A component.
3. RSS-14 and RSS-14 Truncated linear components may only be linked to a four-column CC-A component.
4. RSS Expanded linear components may only be linked to a four-column CC-A  component. If linked to a 2D Composite Component, an RSS Expanded Stacked linear component shall contain at least four symbol characters within its top row.
